Pickering Series 104ES High Voltage SIL/SIP Reed Relays

December 6, 2022

Adding on to the Series 104 Reed Relays, Pickering has recently launched a new variant of the Series 104: the Series 104ES, with optional electrostatic shielding between the switch and the coil to help minimise noise between the coil drive and high voltage circuits. This new screening is in addition to Pickering’s internal mu-metal screen which eliminates problems that would otherwise be experienced due to magnetic interaction when devices are closely stacked.

Features of Pickering’s Series 104 High Voltage SIL/SIP Reed Relays:

  • Standoff up to 4kV DC
  • Stacking on 0.25 inches pitch
  • Small size
  • Internal mu-metal magnetic screen
  • One or two switches in a single package
  • 1 Form A, 2 Form A & 1 Form B configurations
  • Dry and mercury wetted switches available
  • 5V, 12V or 24V Coils with optional internal diode
  • Ideal for transformer or cable testing
  • Additional build options are available including many pin configurations

Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics, Kevin Mallett commented, “Our miniature high voltage Reed Relays continue to be the perfect solution in existing and new high voltage applications, and adding the option of an electrostatic shield to minimise noise between the signal and control circuitry provides extra protection where required.”

Pickering offers four types of dry switches that are capable of standing-off 1.5, 2, 3 and 4kV DC. The 3kV & 4kV versions have an increased clearance between the switch and coil pins to accommodate the higher voltage. These miniature devices stack on a 6.35mm pitch and can feature one or two switches in a single package.

Reed Relays in these series are suitable for applications like mixed signal semiconductor testers, renewable technologies such as solar or EV battery testing, transformer or cable testing or any automatic test equipment where high voltages are involved.
